Mes Amis

You only get to launch your debut novel once every so often.

Or words to that effect.

With enormous - huge, gigantic - thanks to everyone who turned up to the launch last night and drunk us out of The Good Son Special Reserve. We were expecting a crowd half the size, but it was wonderful to see so many of you! Special thanks must go to those who travelled from England to watch a beardy Scotsman blabber on for half an hour! With apologies, too, to those who had questions. Although as one tired bookseller put it, "with questions, we'd have been there till opening tomorrow!". So also a big thank you to all my colleagues who were on duty last night.

It was a fantastic evening. From the surprise of seeing wine labelled with my book cover to the joy of Allan Guthrie's speech (revealing to the world how I got John Connolly's blurb by trying to stab him with a fork in Madison) to the sheer wonderment of having a queue of people wanting the book signed, I had a blast.

Although I must apologise to one or two people whom I know and then promptly forgot their names when it came to signing the books. What can I say, I was very confused and hyper by that point.

I believe there will be pictures soon from various sources, but in the meantime enjoy me grinning like a psychopath in this article from The Courier.

Au revoir

Russel

Hey, I heard a bit about the signing and I'm SO happy for you! Congrats on the launch!

Congratulations, Russel. I'm sure most of the crowd were grateful to you for writing a book that warranted a party in the first place. And, of course, based on your performances at various festivals when slightly hyper and confused, I'm sure everyone felt like they got their money's worth.

Russel - I was well chuffed for you - it was great to see so many people there - and all those books you sold!! You did a grand job and deserved the success of the event.

Thanks - - it was a great evening. Still in shock.

Vincent

I'm sure I don't know what you mean by that last wee bit :-)

It was great to see you there, even as brief as I got to say hello (We did not expect that size of crowd!). I hope you enjoyed yourself - - and I hope you enjoy the book!
