A Year on the Killing Streets and some blatant promotion (both quite unconnected)

Mes Amis

Have I ever told you how much I love THE WIRE?

No? how about HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE KILLING STREETS?

No? Then let me tell you this... much as I loved the Televised version, the original HOMICIDE: A YEAR ON THE KILLING STREETS is one of the best damn books I've read in years. I'll try and get a review on the next CSS update but... damn... it is just mindblowing. One of the very few truly brilliant true crime books I've ever read. Makes me think of Wambaugh, but gets even deeper than that into the world of the homicide detective. Just... stunning.

Yes, that update will be coming soon. With - get this - a guest review, too (Yeah, we like guest reviews - send 'em to us if you got 'em and long as we ain't covered the book, we'll think about posting 'em).

In other updates:

add the truly masterful Tony Black
and
the disturbing genius that is Martyn Waites

to my list of blurbers (check out the side quotes).

Seriously, I ain't paying these people. Believe me, I couldn't even if I wanted to.

And its back to the batcave... the second novel is still giving me gyp...

Au revoir

Russel

Couldn't agree with you more. A friend in the U.S. sent me a copy of The Killing streets about 4 years ago and it blew my socks off.

Haven't read it since then. Perhaps I'll try and dig it out and have another read. Thanks for reminding me of that book.
