The best detective novel ever written (and brought up recently by that bloody brilliant, smart-as-a-chap-with-two-heads SF writer China Mieville, who's been talking about crime fiction recently) is, of course, LADY DON'T FALL BACKWARDS, by Darcy Santo: and what an ending it had, too:


This brings back many memories for me; my dad is a big Hancock fan, and this was always one of his favourite episodes (mine too, as it happens).
